About

My name is Gary Gao. I am a senior at Montclair Kimberley Academy and an incoming freshman at the University of Pennsylvania's Integrated Studies Program. As a politics and Latin student, I am both intrigued by the parallels between the two subjects and interested in bridging the gap between them. During my time in AP Latin, I found some incredible parallels, especially in Bellum Gallicum, between the ancient world and the world today. Waging wars for political campaigns or political and racial views of Gauls are topics I see tangentially visible in current global politics. With the divided contemporary political environment we are living in right now, I believe that we can all benefit from a new perspective - one that echoes from centuries ago.
